Presentation Is Everything: The Art Of Gift Giving

by Mia Bolaris-Forget (Staff Writer)

They say “it’s better to give than to receive”…but when it comes to weddings the focus on the couple in love is what “they” will be getting as gifts. Still, according to tradition and etiquette, the lovebirds also have some giving (back) to do.

In fact, brides and grooms to be need to start “shopping” not only for themselves but also for the members of their bridal party and parents as well.

Gifts should be not only a commemorative keepsake, but also something practical, useful, and befitting to the recipient(s). And, while the bridal party is typically presented with their special gifts at the rehearsal supper, parents ideally should get a more private and “ceremonies” presentation.

Consider inviting moms and dads out, or over from drinks, coffee, lunch, or dinner just before the wedding. And, remember, it doesn’t have to be expensive or elaborate, just well planned, well thought out, and “intimate”. Definitely more private, relaxed, and sentimental, it’s also one more GREAT way to celebrate the big event and the milestone you’re all taking in a couple of days.
