Shoppers Delight: Big and Small “Shopportunities”

by mia bolaris-forget (Staff Writer)

Part of the wedding planning process is pinpointing all those items you’ve been meaning to get and that would be ideal for helping you set up house. In fact, the bridal registry, was traditionally established to do just that: help the young couple (often still living at home) accumulate a “dowry” of household items that would ease their transition into independence and as husband and wife.

And, while today, most of us venture out on our own well before we venture into wedded bliss, there are always things we want or need for our house/home and for our new role as husband and wife. But, these items may be more eclectic items than the “popularly” more practical one; and that may translate into a registry at boutiques rather than the standard stores that offer bridal registries.

While there are no official rules against this, keep in mind that not everyone is local and that your favourite shops may not be available outside of your immediate area. Consider those who are out of town or out of state and start a registry in some more popular shops and stores that offer nationwide locations, and cover all your bases.
